5 Transitional Outfit Ideas - Summer/Autumn

16:30

The transition from Summer into Autumn can be a tough one for not just your lifestyle, but also your outfit choices. This is usually the period where I am always struggle to know what to wear and also what to buy when shopping, because there's a mixture of both seasons out there, you're unsure whether you should be dressing for the weather or prepping your new season wardrobe. You'll also have some days where you'll leave the house in the morning and it will be quite chilly, so you throw on a cosy jumper and head off for the day. But by lunch time, the suns out and you're absolutely boiling in the knit threw on earlier. Today's post showcases 5 outfit ideas that will inspire you to know what to wear during the transition from Summer into Autumn, preparing for an assortment of different temperatures and weathers during this period.

First off, I have to start by saying this is probably my favourite look of them all and the one I would probably find most appropriate for this time of the year. The trench act's as a great transition piece, taking you from summer to autumn with absolute ease. The stone colour will help to keep that lighter summer vibe appropriate for warmer sunnier days, whilst it will also work well on cooler days when you need something a little extra to keep you warm without going full on thick coat. Pair the trench with a simple piece like this white tie waist shirt dress, another fabulous transition item to have in your wardrobe. To incorporate more of an autumn twist on this look, throw on some black boots to create a monochrome theme, such as these black patent block heeled boots. Finish off the look with a black tote bag to create an overall smart yet casual outfit, perfect for lunch dates with your girlfriend or stylish days in the office.
The second look is ideal for more relaxed casual days with a sporty-lux vibe. Taking a basic khaki t-shirt and some denim MOM jeans, you can take this classic go to look to a transition and casual theme by adding some super cute accessories. The first is the ever so popular bomber jacket, lust or loathe, it's a great transition piece that's lightweight and a cover up for cooler days. Pair the three clothing items with some pink faux suede trainers and a matching coloured back pack. Throwing khaki and pink together ensures you're addressing one of the new autumn colouring pairings that is going to be a big hit this new season.
This ones for those of you who love your all black outfits! Keeping the on trend embroidered shift dress as the statement piece in this look, you can take this summer inspired look through with you into this transition period. Throw on a leather jacket over the top of the dress for chiller days and as you head more into autumn. As it does progress towards this season, swap out the lace up sandals for some boots and pair the look with some tights for extra warmth. To keep with the all black theme, add a black bucket bag to finish off the look.
Another look for when it's still feel's like summer in the air. Taking another great transition piece, the denim jacket pair it with an burgundy lace trip cami. This will help prepare your look for the autumn season that is approaching. Add a black button up denim skirt to the look, as well as some metallic inspired accessories like the ballet flats and the cross the body bag. Metallic is another trend that is going to be big this A/W so get a head with the trends and start incorporating this theme into your outfits. Foe when it does get cool,er, like the above outfit you can add tights and swap the shoes for some chunky boots to really add an autumn touch.
The final look is such a classic look that is made up with all different classic pieces. You can't go wrong with a white oxford style shirt and a blue denim pinafore. These items together are great for the transition period as they suit the two seasons so well. Keeping the look super stylish, pair it with some tan loafers, the shoes that scream autumn footwear and a tan shoulder bag to keep the colours flowing well. As it get's colder, like the other looks, you can easily throw on some tights and swap out your accessories for darker colours. The shirt and pinafore will always remain as the staple in this outfit!

What if your favourite look out of these? What are you wearing during this transition period?
