5 Apps All Bloggers Need

08:00

Most bloggers spend quite a bit of time sometime over the course of the day with their phone in their hand, flicking between apps whether that's checking their social media feed, editing a series of instagram photos or finishing off a quick task, we're doing it and we're probably using some form of app to do it too. I have a few apps on my phone that I find useful to do this and wanted to share with you all today.

Bloglovin - It might seem like a bit of an obvious one, but I love being able to have Bloglovin on my phone. Although I've not always loved it, baring it mind that around this time last year it was an awful app, that never refreshed properly and always crashed, but SINCE it has improved a lot. I love that I have one place I can go to easily to catch up on posts from my favourite bloggers, discover new posts to read and blogs to enjoy, see what other people are loving and of course have somewhere where others can view my own blog posts and follow me to keep updated. I have a whole post on Getting The Most Out Of Bloglovin which you might find useful.

WhenToPost - This is a recent discovery and one that I have found beneficial to keeping my posting on Instagram not only consistent, but to achieve better results when it comes to promotion. Once you have linked it up to your Instagram, it shows you the best times of the week that you should post on Instagram according to the activity patterns of your followers. It gives you roughly three times throughout the day as to when it best to post. For example, the best times on Wednesday's for me are '8:45am, 5:00pm and 7:30pm.' Plus it gives you the chance to see other less popular times throughout the day, in which you can also use as a rough guide to help you decide when to publish. It also sends you notifications before and during your most popular times to help remind you to post. This has really helped keep me consistent with posting at least once a day.

Hootsuite - For me scheduling tweets happens through Hootsuite. I spend most of the time doing it on the web page, but if I have a spare few moments when travelling or if I want to check for any reason, like any typo's I might have made or I might have simply just forgotten to do all the promo tweet for a particular post, then I can use the app to quickly make any changes. It's really simple and easy to use. I'd probably be lost without it. It makes the tedious task of scheduling tweets a lot more bearable. You can also use it for your Instagram, where it gives you the option to draft and schedule your photo and it sends you a notification through ready for you to go on and post.

Aviary or VSCO - I know this is suppose to be five apps, but with this one I wanted to give you the option since they're both photo editing apps. The first is Aviary. I had been on the hunt for a while to find an app that enabled you to whiten up your backgrounds for free! This app does exactly that and this is mainly what I use it for. This is great if you have poor lighting on a particular photo shooting session or tend to shoot in a bad lighting area.

The second is a more popular one known as VSCO. I actually deleted this quite a while back when they got rid of the grid feature that was so helpful for when you were sorting out your theme for Instagram. But since re downloading it, I have noticed that there is a slightly different style to the new grid, but can work in the same concept. What I love about VSCO is not only the basic editing features, but also the filters that they offer. There's a range of really fab filters for free, but also ones you can download onto your app. This is a great app if you're into your filters and editing. It's really easy to use and one to check out if you haven't already.

Pinterest - I absolutely love Pinterest! It's such a handy little app to have on your phone. I love scrolling through and pinning lots of wonderful photographs onto my boards. You can literally have so much fun with it and be as creative as you want. As a blogger it can be beneficial to use for many reasons. It's great for getting lots of inspiration for many different things, whether this be blog tips, photography inspo, DIY's, outfit ideas and beauty trends. It's also a great form of promotion for your own content. You can pin your own photos that go link through to your posts onto your own blog board on your profile and others can repin these photos and check out your content. This is a really fantastic way to bring in loads of traffic from all over to your blog. Download it and give it a go. Have lots of fun with it, but remember you can use it for blog purposes too.

What are your favourite blogging apps?
