Festive Nails

When we think of Christmas nails our immediate response is to think of glitter! It's the classic nail to go for this time of the year. It adds to the festivity and brings something fun to our usual everyday kind of shades. Its bold and it creates a statement within your look. It works so well for the party season by adding a touch of glamour to your outfits. Glitter nails are also perfect for winter time with the endless amounts of sparkle. You can also get really creative with your glitter nails, whether you fancy a few bits of glitter on each nail with a different colour base coat like red or nude, you might decide to just run it across the top of your nails on the free edge or go all out there with it across the whole nail.

My favourite glitter nails from my own collection include Model's Own in Pink Fizz - a gorgeous rosy pink shade, Rimmel's Disco Ball - a glittery mixture of silver and blue that would be perfect as a top coat over other colours or across the tip of the nail, Kiko's Metallic Mercury Purple - a warm shimmery infused purple.
There's also the classic red option to my your festive nail. There's always two stand out shades for me, either the more of traditional Christmassy red or a berry inspired red to fit more in with the colder season. It's a colour that suits absolutely everyone and can be very classy. It goes with so many different looks and would look fab with a matching bright red lip. My top pick for this is Maybelline's Super Stay 7 Days Gel in Midnight Red - a deep berry red shade that is perfect for autumn/winter
time.

An all year round shade that simply works well during the festive period is a plain black varnish. It is party season appropriate. It also goes with so many different makeup and outfit looks. It's a bold and strong colour, so it will be sure to make a statement or help to tone down the rest of your look if you  have one statement piece you want to be the star of the show. This is also a great base colour if you want to add glitter to the tops or dotted around the nail for an extra touch of sparkle to your festive nails. My go to black nail varnish is Maybelline's Color Show in Blackout. This has the perfect consistency and pigmentation. It's super easy to apply and it also lasts a really long time on the nails, so you'll be able to get lot's of wear out of it for this season.

What festive nails are you going to be wearing? What's your go to shade for this time of the year?
