New In Makeup | The Bourjois Holiday Box*
08:00
I hate to be one of those cliché people who say 'can you believe how soon Christmas is?', but I genuinely am shocked at how soon it is. Amongst getting ill and taking a few weeks to recover, as well as going on a short holiday at the start of December, it's crazy how quickly the festive period has crept up on me.
A few weeks back I was lucky enough to receive the Bourjois Holiday box* courtesy of Influenster for reviewing purposes. Initially I wasn't going to do a post on this box and just feature it on my social media channels, but I found myself loving so many of these products, that I just had to share them all with you. If you're in need of some new products for the festive period or simply just want to know more, then get yourself comfy and let's find out more about this box...
One of the first products I tried from this box was the Healthy Mix Foundation*. I've only ever tried the serum version of this and I really liked it, so I was excited to try this one. The first issue I ran into at the start was that the shade they gave me (no50 rose ivory) was a little too pale for my skin tone, which as you can imagine made my skin appear a little more lighter than it's true colour. But I had to work with it and in the end it wasn't too out of the way. In terms of the formula itself, I have to just say how amazing it smells. Bourjois always nail it with their good smelling products. This foundation smells fruity and fresh, which goes well with the whole healthy name.
The name also gives a clear indication of the main aims of this product which include 'creating a flawless, fresh and healthy complexion with 70% more radiance and 24 hour hydration.' The Healthy Mix Foundation* has a great consistency to it. It wasn't too thick or too runny. Upon application, I found the foundation to blend really evenly into my skin and it gives me a nice even complexion. I would say it is more of a lighter coverage, so it's definitely one for those who want a more natural look. With regards to the finish of this foundation, I unfortunately cannot see much of fresher radiant appearance to my skin which is a shame as I had high hopes for this one.
Moving onto the concealer which is also goes by the name Healthy Mix but this is an anti fatigue concealer. The Healthy Mix Anti Fatigue Concealer* carries that same fresh and fruity Bourjois smell the foundation has. It comes in a little square tube with a doe foot applicator which makes the job so much easier. It has quite a thick consistency to it, but this is completely not a bad thing. It actually helps in someways to give you a more fuller coverage under the eye and it is super easy to blend unlike other thicker concealers. The only downside to this concealer is the shade itself. I received the lightest shade they do, but it ended up being darker than the foundation I also received, which didn't help massively with brightening under my eye area. It had quite a yellow tinge to it. Again a massive shame as I think if they provided a better shade range this concealer could be amazing!!!
Let's move more onto the positive side of things where I found many things I loved about the next products. Inside the box was a little quad eyeshadow palette. This is the Xmas Smoky Stories quad eyeshadow palette* which of course came with four eyeshadows for you to create one smokey eye look with. The shades within the palette were very different for me and not my usual go to colours. But I loved how different it was and how it gave me the opportunity to play with new shades.
The colours themselves had a great pigmentation when swatched and when applied onto the lid. They also had no fall out, apart from the glitter shade in the middle. But this can be expected as glitter is messy. Plus my glitter shade also smashed upon delivery so I knew it may be hard to work with after that. All the shades blended out really nicely and I was then able to create a gorgeous purple toned with specks of glitter smokey eye look. It is definitely more of a night out or glam makeup palette to reach for and use to create a look for all the festive celebrations you might have planned over the next few days. A great little palette that is very travel friendly also.
Another product that really impressed me from this box was the Volume Glamour Push Up Mascara*. Bourjois have done a great job on this mascara and it's made me want to try more of their mascara range. This mascara in particular claims to 'uplift with no clumps whilst being silky and high resistant'. And I'm pleased to say this mascara did exactly just that and more! It definitely is completely clump free. It coated every single one of my lashes effortlessly and created a feathery look to my lashes, which I always love. It is so easy and quick to use too. Also the brush itself creates so much volume and curl. It really brings your lashes to life and lifts them. And the other amazing thing about this fabulous mascara is that it last such a long time too. I could put this on at 7am in the morning and by 7pm in the evening it is still in the exact same way. I could not fault this. I love it so much! I'm definitely going to repurchase this in the waterproof version.
Now I've always heard lots of great things about the blushers from Bourjois, so I again had high hopes when trying out the Little Round Pot Blusher in the shade Rose D'Or*. These are the cutest little blushers ever. They open up to a little mirror inside, as well as a little blush brush for you to use if you need to. Upon first impressions, I already knew that these blushers had a well known scent to them, so of course I had to give them a little smell and they smell so good. Unlike the fruity scent of the healthy mix range, this blush smelt rosey and feminine. In terms of the actual shade itself, I love the colour of it. Whilst it is on the subtle side, it is still such a pretty shade and looks even more gorgeous on the cheeks. Since it's a baked blush, it does have a slight bit of shimmer in it which can also work well as a blush come highlight, if you ever wanted to skip the highlighting stage and just wear the blush on its own.
And finally to the last few products within the Bourjois Holiday Box* include three gorgeous winter inspired lipsticks from the new rouge velvet lipstick range. The shades I received were Magni Fig* (a gorgeous deep berry shade), Berry Formidable* (a deep red shade that will work amazing on Christmas day) and Brunette* (a deep rustic brown toned red for something a little different). All three shades are highly pigmented. The lipsticks themselves feel amazingly creamy on the lips and glide on so effortlessly. Although these lipsticks have the tendency to bleed if you're not careful, so wearing them under a lip liner could be more advisable. They also last a decent amount of time on the lips, but can go a little patchy in the middle during eating/drinking, so do bare that in mind. But overall I'm really impressed with the quality of these lipsticks and I'm so in love with the colours. They're just gorgeous and I know I'll get so much wear out of all three shades even after the festive season.
Thanks so much to Influenster and Bourjois for sending over this more than generous box of goodies.
