Winter Skincare For Dry/Dehydrated Skin Products Routine
I never really noticed a lot of changes in my skin between the seasons until the past few months. This winter my skin has suffered with the cold weather, blowing my nose constantly during a heavy cold, constant hand washing during illnesses and a lack of care from being so busy with the Christmas period. I've really had to up my skincare the past few weeks to combat my tired, dry and dehydrated skin. I wanted to share with you some of the products I've been loving and have been using in my routine recently.

Winter Skincare For Dry/Dehydrated Skin Botanics Day Cream Facial Oil
When you're skin is looking and feeling dry and dehydrated the most important step to take is to ensure you're using a good hydrating moisturiser. Moisturisers are great at adding a protective layer over the skin to protect it from any harshness and instead hydrate the skin. The one I'm currently using is the Hydrating Day Cream by Botanics. It's a very light moisturiser, which you may think might not work as well as a more thicker creamier one, but I've found that it still does the exact same job. It's more gentle on the skin, which is good if your skin is feeling a little sore. This moisturiser is particularly good at getting rid of any dullness and making my skin appear more awake. For me this is essential in the winter time as my skin doesn't look as glowy and radiant as it does in the summer. The Hydrating Day Cream is a great budget friendly option to check out.

I've also been treating my skin to that extra bit of luxury this winter. I was kindly sent this lovely facial oilby GreenPeopleUK a few months back. It's been the exact thing my skin has been crying out for this winter. It's really helped to brighten, awaken and hydrate my skin, giving it that extra boost it needs. I always find that when I use this a couple of times a week my skin is left feeling soft and less tight. Facial oils are also amazing at increasing your radiance, which is a look I'm so in love with.

Winter Skincare For Dry/Dehydrated Skin
This time of the year I like to opt for more cream based cleansers. They're very gentle and very moisturising on the face so are perfect for those with dry skin. One that has always been a firm favourite for me is the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser. It's so nourishing and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. Mixed with the hot cloth that comes with it, it's so relaxing and soothing on my skin. I could not fault it. Another cleanser I've been trying out recently and I know my Mum absolutely loves is the No7 Soft & Soothed Gentle Cleanser. From the name, you can already it is far from harsh. It's very good at moisturising the skin. I also love that it works well at hydrating my dehydrated complexion. Another good thing is that it works so well at removing makeup with ease.

Moving onto other parts of the body, my hands and body in particular have suffered quite badly this winter. Moisturisers have become like my best friend this season. I always have my go to body moisturisers in my collection like my trust Soap & Glory ones that are thick and creamy and do the job perfectly, as well as my favourite tanning moisturiser by Palmers

But I've been reaching more for a new love lately. The Dream Cream by Lush. Although it doesn't have the best smell, it is a complete game changer. You can use this on both the hands and body. It's amazing for people with eczema and sensitive skin. It really helps to soothe irritated and sore dry skin. It almost like it cools it down. The consistency is just perfect. Rather that feeling greasy or sticky, it dries so fast and leaves the skin feeling smooth. Even after just one use of this cream, it made my skin feel softer and less angry. I could not be without this cream now. I love it! If you plan to try anything from this post, then it has got to be the Dream Cream.
Obviously do to the Dream Cream's size, it isn't the best on the go product to carry around with you. So a great hand cream for travelling and on the go are the ones from The Body Shop. I personally love the Frosted Berries hand cream, but they do so many other gorgeous scents. These are super hydrating and comforting for the hands. They're not greasy at all, so they're perfect for when you're on the go and can't afford to have sticky hands. Because of how quick and easy they are to use, they're a definite must have option for your hand bag.

My lips have also been feeling a little sorry for themselves this winter. They've been through the worst with getting chapped and dry. Along with moisturisers, lip balms have also been my saviours this winter. It's important we take care of our lips because they do not have any glands, which means they can't produce any oil and are more prone to dryness. When I notice my lips have got dry, I like to pop on some lip scrub. I love the Bubblegum lip scrub from Lush. It smells and tastes amazing (not that you should really eat it, but you can't help it haha!). Scrubs are really great at exfoliating and getting rid of any dry skin. After applying a scrub, I then like to apply a lip balm over it and continue to repeat applying a balm over the top throughout the day.

The lip balms I love include ones I've been kindly sent from brands such as Anatomicals*, Bubble T* and Sebamed*. The Sebamed balm in particular is great because it contains an spf which helps to protect your lips from getting damaged by UV light. But there are so many lip balms out there that all do the same job of hydrating and bringing nourishment.

Other ways you can take care of dry/dehydrated skin this winter:
  • Drink more water - water helps to improve the condition of our skin and hydrates our skin, preventing it from looking dull and dehydrated.
  • Swap your makeup choices - opt for different formulas and finishes to help the appearance and condition of your skin. Powders accenture dry patches. Go for more moisturising options.
  • Use an exfoliator once a week - exfoliators help to get rid of dryness and instead replace it with a smoother layer. My favourite face exfoliator is this one from Botanicals. It's very gentle on the skin.
  • Wear gloves when its cold out - protect your hands from the harsh colder air and wear gloves outside to prevent dryness.

  • How is your skin during winter time?
