Latest In Beauty - Beauty Guru Box* | First Impressions
08:00One of my favourite things about having such a big interest in beauty is being able to test out new products. Subscription boxes are an amazing way for beauty lovers to test out new products monthly and the lovely Jemma from Latest In Beauty kindly gave me the chance to create my own beauty guru box*.
I was lucky enough to choose 9 products from their amazing selection of beauty products to fill my box with. I was so surprised at how many good brands (including high end brands) they feature. The products I picked out gave me the opportunity to try so many brands I've been wanting to try for years. I did an unboxing video over on my Youtube channel of all the products I received, but today I wanted to share with you my first impressions of the products.
Starting with a brand that I have been noticing a lot more in the beauty world lately is this makeup removing cleansing oil* by french brand Caudalíe. I have never tried a cleansing oil before. I shamefully didn't even know you could cleanse with an oil until six months ago or so. It is a completely new concept for me, but one I could totally get on board with.
I've used this a few times now with such ease and after every use it has left my skin feeling so smooth. It really does remove makeup well and doesn't feel greasy during or after. The only problem I'm not so sure on yet is that I have broken out more since trying this. But it could just be a coincidence as I've been so stressed lately. I'll have to continue to try it and see what happens!
Onto one of the many products that were a summer influenced choice is this hello sunshine facial mist* from Merci Handy. I'm a little bit obsessed with facial mists when the warmer months of the year roll round. I just thought this would be perfect to pop in my bag during hot days out or to spritz over at night when it's muggy. I've used it a few times before bed and I really like it. It creates a very refreshing and soothing feeling. It also smells pretty damn amazing too. I know I'll get lots of use out of this one!
Another product I know I'll get lots of use out of is the Moroccanoil hair treatment*. I love using hair oils in the ends of my hair to keep it in a good condition. I've always heard amazing things about Moroccanoil, so I jumped at the chance to try out this particular brand of hair oil. Upon first use, this product just screamed luxury. It smells so musky and like vanilla. The one stigma with hair oils is that they have the tendency to leave your hair greasy, but this one didn't at all. Instead, it left my hair feeling so soft and smooth.
I feel like this whole box includes me trying completely new concepts and I'm totally here for it! I'm really into my fake tans and tanning moisturisers come summer time, so I really was interested in trying the Nuxe Precious Scented Shower Oil* with golden shimmer. Again, a shower oil is something I'm not familiar with, but it just screams luxury to me. I love that this produces a satin finish and is good for all skin types.
I haven't yet tried this one yet because I want to save it for more summer days, but I'm sure it will be featuring a lot on my blog and social media. The only impression I can give is that it has a fake tan kind of smell coming from the packaging, so we'll have to see what this produces later on.
Onto the only makeup product I opted for in this beauty guru box*, but also happens to be by one of my favourite brands, is the Kiko Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush* in the shade Hot Pink. As soon as I swatched this one, I was blown away with the pigmentation. It is crazy pigmented. Kiko blushes never disappoint. Hot Pink is a very out there colour, so it is definitely more suited to summer days. It blends really easy onto the skin and creates a nice natural flush of colour on the cheeks.
A brand that I'm not so familiar with, but have also always wanted to try is Burt's Bees. I thought a great place to start would be one of their lip balms. The one I opted for is one of the tinted lip balms* in the shade rose. Lip balms are one of those things that are always handy to have around. I don't know if it's just mine or how it is supposed to smell, but this lip balm didn't smell too great if I am honest. Other than that, I really like the colour of this balm, it adds a slight rosy red tint to the lips. The balm itself was really nourishing and creamy. It glided on so nicely.
Moving onto my nail care choices, the first being a nail varnish from the Rimmel London Rita Ora 60 second range* in the shade Sweet Retreat. I own a few of these nail varnishes already, so having another addition to the collection is always lovely since I quite like the formula of these and find they last a decent amount of time on my nails before chipping. Sweet Retreat is the prettiest pink shade that will be very well loved throughout spring and summer.
The other nail based product I went for included these very cool strengthen nail and cuticle finger masques* from 7th Heaven. As I wear a lot of nail varnish and never let my nails get much air, my nails have the tendency to dry out, so these finger masques sound perfect for me. They contain a lot of good conditioning ingredients like argan and pomegranate which help to revitalise the nails. I'm saving these for a much needed pamper evening, so I'll report back on my Instagram stories at a later date. But I can imagine they work well, as I love so many 7th Heaven products already.
And finally, the last product I went for and the final skincare product is this Hydrating Booster* by Simple. I've tried many Simple skincare products, but I have never come across this Hydrating Booster*. It's aims are to combat dull and dry skin, reduce tightness and can be used as a primer. It has a gel like consistency to it, but it's non-greasy and doesn't feel too wet on the skin either. It felt nice on my skin when I applied, but from the first usage I didn't notice any noticeable changes in the appearance of my skin. My skin didn't look hydrated or glowy, so I'm definitely going to continue to test this one out and see if it actually works over the next couple of weeks.
