Autumn/winter means big fur coats, cosy knits, berry lips, over the knee boots and of course darker nail shades! From power red and vintage violet to black out and disco mix, there's a variety of shades out there to suit all and to help those who may be similar to myself who find it hard to part with the more bright shades come the new season. Even though I am more of a spring/summer girl, who seem's to have more lighter and pastel coloured polishes in her nail collection, I do actually have a few colours from a range of brands that are perfect for this time of year. Here are some of my picks from my own nail polish collection that I'll be wearing throughout this autumn and winter!
Kate Spade New York by Nails Inc - Up Town Glamour:
This polish was a freebie in a magazine about two years ago, I absolutely love freebies and especially when they happen to be free beauty products. This glamour metallic gold shade also known as 'Up Town Glamour' is perfect for the winter and Christmas season! I believe it would be great for when you're heading out for drinks with friends or to a Christmas party and want to add an extra touch of glamour to your overall look. The colour isn't too over powering as it is more of subtle metallic colour and needs around two-three coats to avoid any lines appearing on the nails. Overall, a great shade for Christmas time!
Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine by Rita Ora - Rain Rain Go Away:
The name of this nail polish so matches the weather for this time of the year! This Rimmel polish by singing and X Factor judge Rita Ora is a great nude colour for the autumn/winter. I find this nail varnish easy to apply with a decent sized brush that isn't too thin or too big for your nail. This shade can easily be described as being a taupe colour, which is in-between grey and brown. You can easily wear this shade with lots of different coloured outfits and therefore you won't have to worry about your nails clashing with your look!
Nail Paint by Barry M - Vintage Violet:
Barry M do so many different shades and I find them to be affordable yet also are a great quality. Vintage Violet is a dark purple that stays away from berry or burgundy. It is more of a traditional colour which gives it that name of 'vintage'. I think this shade just screams autumn! Although when I first used this polish, I was surprised at how dark it was actually going to be and it did take a couple of days for the colour to grow on me. But as a whole, I love this shade and think it's great for bringing darker colours into your collection for the autumn time!
Maybelline Color Show 60 Seconds - Black Out:
Everybody needs a black nail polish in their collection and autumn/winter is a great time to whip out your black polish! I purchased this one a few days ago, since all my old blacks were drying up and I was unable to use them. I love the colour pay off of this shade, it's not see through which some black polishes can be and it only need's couple of coats on each nail. I love the smooth and sleek finish this polish gives. I definitely would recommend this if you're after a black polish that is cheap and actually produces amazing results!
Models Own - Disco Mix:
Another nail shade that is so suitable for winter and christmas time! Disco mix is a polish made of blue and purple shimmery glitter, that doesn't even require another colour underneath and is easy to build up to however dramatic you wish to go. I find that unlike some glitter nail polishes, the ones by Model's own rarely flake off and have great staying power. This shade is also perfect for parties and adding touches of drama to a simple outfit!
Maybelline Color Show by Color Drama - Power Red
Red is a great all year round colour. It can be easily recognised as being an autumn colour due to the changing of the leaves from green to red and at Christmas time on many decorations and presents! Power red is a classic red shade that creates a high shine finish on the nails with just one to two coats. I absolutely love the Maybelline Color show nail polishes. I think they're so affordable at £2.99 and for the formulas and for how long they last on the nails is great!
